Short introduction for author of this Internet magazine: I'm typical representative of my generation, born Russia, where being able to speak and live freely still means something. I've lived in the U.S. for nine years, and I've traveled all over the world to places like Europe, Middle and Far East, Central and North America, and some places between them. Living a life like mine, I've collected a lot of knowledge, and part of what I want to do here is share my information with you; the free exchange of information is what the Internet is all about. In exchange, I'd like you to do the same, leave your information here so that everyone can share in it. No one understands what it's like to live in Communist Russia unless they've done it. No one knows how it is to be a foreigner in a new country unless they've done it. So that's most of what you'll find here: my ideas and opinions at first, and later the ideas and opinions of others. If everyone does their part, we'll all be better informed world citizens in the end. Idealistic? Of course. But without idealism, the world does not progress. I'm a man of varied tastes and interests, just like most of you. And I love to read thoughtful and incisive essays, the kind that don't just tell you something new but make you think and rethink what you thought you already knew. Information here will include subjects like: Popular culture. Music, books, and movies all shape the way we think, as do art, photographs, the theater, and magazines. How has rock music changed? Why do we want to know all about celebrities? What new museums are around, and what are the best theatrical presentations? Where are books going today, and why do we see so much erotica coming out all of a sudden? I want to at least try to answer all these questions. World culture. Why do immigrants settle so easily in some countries, yet have so much trouble in others? What are the best places to visit if you love people? How can you travel safely in the new paranoid world we have today? Which are the best countries to move to if you want to live richly? Our Information and Personal Wealth. How can you protect your identity? Is protecting your identity really all that important? Are you more likely to be ripped off by an information thief or someone selling something online? And information for everyone on getting mortgages, loans, etc. Sex. Admit it or not, everyone's interested. How are different countries different? Has the perception and act of sex changed over the last several decades? How did people do the deed in the times of King Tut, Cleopatra, Michelangelo, Catherine the Great? Where do STDs really come from? How can you make the most of your sex life? Can you have a sex vacation, and what hidden parts of the sexual world could enhance your life? Russia. Okay, I'm Russian, and I love my homeland. But it's got problems. Why can't Russia progress, despite producing genius after genius in many fields? How can we make Russia work better, and can the rest of the world learn from Russia?
