I. Introduction
Psychology translates directly to "study of the soul." Though when we think about psychology, we generally think of Freud and lying on a couch, the field is much more encompassing. Psychoanalysis has its place, as do pharmaceutical drugs. It has been shown that a number of herbal remedies also have great influence over a person's mental state, as do health and fitness.
But beyond that, there are other things that, broadly defined, help you feel better emotionally and mentally. Humans have a need to know where things are going, and to be in control of their lives. Whether these things are real or imaginary in effect, there is no denying that astrology and prayer, palmistry and tarot reading, all can have a beneficial effect on mood, attitude, and the ephemeral thing called faith.
This website is devoted to understanding this process: why faith and prayer are sometimes as effective as medication, and how the drugs and herbs used to improve mental processes and mood actually work.
