The paradox is that the exhibition, which opened on Oct. 21 at the Maison Rouge gallery in Paris, had been shown earlier at the New Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow as part of the Second Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, where it was a major success and received many positive reviews from the Russian press. True, then too some of the works were barred from display by the administration of the Tretyakov Gallery itself, but Muscovites were able to see them in a separate exhibition of \"Banned Art\" organized at the Andrei Sakharov Center.
